Vastu calculator
Add up the number on your front door, including letters such as A-302 or 12B, and see which planet rules your ghar (घर). Add the date of birth of the head of the family to check whether the number suits their Moolank and Bhagyank.
Also searched as: house number · flat number · ghar ka number · makan number · home number
Enter the number written on your main door, for example 12B or A-302. The date of birth of the head of the family is optional, but it is needed for the match. Nothing you enter is stored.
How it is calculated
House number numerology reduces the number of your home to one digit from 1 to 9. Each digit is ruled by a planet, and that planet sets the general feel of the home. With the date of birth of the head of the family, the calculator also checks whether that planet gets along with theirs. Here is the method, step by step.
Moolank (मूलांक) is the day of birth reduced to one digit, and Bhagyank (भाग्यांक) is all the digits of the date of birth added and reduced to one digit. A home is read as more comfortable when the planet of its number is friendly with the planets of both numbers of the head of the family, usually the person who runs the home or in whose name it is registered. The calculator uses the traditional (naisargika) planet friendship table, checked in both directions, and scores each pair Excellent (4), Good (3), Average (2), Challenging (1) or Difficult (0).
Supportive means both pairs are Good or Excellent. Neutral means the weaker pair is Average. Needs review means at least one pair is Challenging or Difficult.
The same method gives a different answer for a different home. Rahul, born 14/03/1985, is the head of the family in flat 12B: 1 + 2 + B(2) = 5, so the house number is 5 (Mercury). His Moolank is 5 (1 + 4 = 5) and his Bhagyank is 4 (1 + 4 + 0 + 3 + 1 + 9 + 8 + 5 = 31 → 4). House 5 is Excellent with his Moolank and Good with his Bhagyank, so 12B reads as Supportive for his family.
Meanings
The same nine planets rule your house number, your Moolank and your Bhagyank. This is the short version; each guide covers the number in more depth.
House numbers 1 to 9
Read these as the general feel of a home, not a verdict on it. A number that sits well with one family can feel heavy for another, which is why the calculator checks it against the date of birth of the head of the family.

Choosing between flats? This groups the numbers above by what the home will mostly be used for. Check your shortlist against the Moolank and Bhagyank of the head of the family too.
Flats, plots and societies
Indian addresses rarely look like a simple house number. For a flat, the number that matters most is your own flat number, because your main door is the entrance to your home. The building, wing or society number is shared by every family living there, so read it as background, not as the number of your home.
Use your own flat number, the one on your main door. If you are curious, you can run the building or tower number separately as a second reading, but give your flat number more weight.
The calculator adds the wing letter along with the digits: A(1) + 3 + 0 + 2 = 6. Some numerologists count only the digits, so the result also shows the digits-only total (3 + 0 + 2 = 5). Use the form written on your door and nameplate.
A letter after the number counts the same way. For 12B: 1 + 2 + B(2) = 5. A flat numbered 12 without the B would be 1 + 2 = 3, a different house number.
For a bungalow, row house or plot, use the house or plot number from your sale deed or layout plan. Plot No. 87 gives 8 + 7 = 15 → 6.
Enter long municipal numbers in full. Hyphens and slashes are ignored and every digit is added: 2-3-45 gives 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 = 14 → 5.
What to do next
A Needs review result is not a reason to sell, move or worry. Most families cannot change the number of their flat or house, and they do not need to. Here are simple remedies from traditional numerology and Vastu (वास्तु) that many Indian families follow.
Each house number above has a small, practical remedy matched to its ruling planet. Start there.
Some numerologists traditionally suggest a small extra letter or digit on a nameplate inside the main door, so the total becomes friendlier to the head of the family. The official number stays the same. What to add depends on the Moolank and Bhagyank, so ask Namieta first.
Keep the main door clean, well lit and free of shoes and clutter. Many homes light a diya (दीया) near the entrance in the evening and hang a toran of mango leaves.
Traditional Vastu keeps the centre of the home (Brahmasthan) open and the North-East clean, often with a small puja corner. Repair leaking taps and broken fittings quickly.
Please note: these are traditional practices, shared as they are followed in many Indian homes. They cannot promise any particular result, and they are not a substitute for legal, financial, medical or structural advice.
Run the calculator for each adult as well as the head of the family. The same number can be Needs review for one person and Supportive for another.
Run each flat number before you book. The calculator also lists the house numbers that suit both the Moolank and Bhagyank you enter.
In Vastu the direction of the main door matters too. The Kua number calculator shows the directions traditionally considered good for you.
Namieta can read the number together with the layout of the home in a Vastu consultation, or check both your house and office numbers against your date of birth in the house and office compatibility analysis.
The number on your sale deed, property card and municipal records is a legal record and should not be changed for numerology. Remedies work alongside it.
Use your own flat number, the one on your main door, because that is the entrance to your home. The society, wing or tower number is shared by everyone in the building. For an independent house or bungalow, use the house or plot number.
Letters use the Pythagorean chart, where A = 1, B = 2 and so on up to I = 9, and J starts again at 1. A-302 gives A(1) + 3 + 0 + 2 = 6, and 12B gives 1 + 2 + B(2) = 5. Because some numerologists count only the digits, the calculator also shows the digits-only total.
No number is unlucky for everyone. 8 is ruled by Saturn (Shani) and 4 by Rahu, so they are often avoided, but they suit people whose Moolank and Bhagyank are friendly with those planets. Enter the date of birth of the head of the family to see how the number sits with them.
Many families check the number against the head of the family or the person the house is registered to. It is worth running the calculator for each adult as well, because the same number can be Supportive for one person and Needs review for another.
The official number on your property papers and municipal records stays as it is. What you can do is follow the simple remedy for your house number, keep the entrance clean and bright, and look at the Vastu of the home. Speak to Namieta before you add anything to the number on your door.
Yes, it is a good time to check, because you can still choose between flats. Run each option through the calculator with your date of birth. For griha pravesh (गृह प्रवेश) itself, families usually choose an auspicious date as well, and the Lucky Date Calculator can help you shortlist one.
Yes. The same method applies to an office, shop or godown number, checked against the owner's Moolank and Bhagyank. Namieta also offers a house and office compatibility analysis that checks both numbers against your date of birth.
