Method

How the compatibility score is calculated

The calculator uses the Indian method: each person’s Moolank and Bhagyank, and the traditional (naisargika) friendship between the planets that rule them. The planets are 1 Sun, 2 Moon, 3 Jupiter, 4 Rahu, 5 Mercury, 6 Venus, 7 Ketu, 8 Saturn and 9 Mars.

  1. Find both Moolanks

Moolank is the day of birth reduced to one digit. Born on the 23rd: 2 + 3 = 5.
  2. Find both Bhagyanks

    Bhagyank is all digits of DD-MM-YYYY added and reduced. 15-07-1990: 1+5+0+7+1+9+9+0 = 32, then 3 + 2 = 5.
  3. Compare four pairs

Moolank with Moolank (35%), Bhagyank with Bhagyank (35%), and the two cross pairs, your Moolank with your partner’s Bhagyank and the other way round (15% each).
  4. Score each pair 0 to 4

Each number has a ruling planet. For each pair, look up how planet A regards planet B and how B regards A: friend 2 points, neutral 1, enemy 0.

A pair scores 0 (difficult), 1 (challenging), 2 (average), 3 (good) or 4 (excellent). Each pair’s score is turned into points (weight × score ÷ 4), the four results are added and rounded. 75% and above is shown as a strong match, 55 to 74% a good match, 40 to 54% a mixed match and below 40% as needs care.

Worked example: two dates of birth

Partner A, born 15-07-1990: Moolank 1 + 5 = 6, ruled by Venus. Bhagyank 1 + 5 + 0 + 7 + 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 32 → 5, ruled by Mercury.
Partner B, born 23-11-1992: Moolank 2 + 3 = 5, ruled by Mercury. Bhagyank 2 + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 9 + 9 + 2 = 28 → 10 → 1, ruled by the Sun.

Partner A born 15-07-1990 and Partner B born 23-11-1992: 76%, strong match.

Notice that one cross pair is difficult even though the overall result is a strong match. That is normal. The score shows the overall pattern; the pair-by-pair table shows where a couple may need more patience, which is what a detailed reading looks at.

Planet friendship table for numbers 1 to 9

This is the table the calculator uses. The relationship is not always the same in both directions: Mercury (5) regards the Sun (1) as a friend, while the Sun regards Mercury as neutral. That is why every pair is checked both ways.

Rahu (4) and Ketu (7) are not part of the classical planet friendship list; here they follow a pattern close to Saturn’s, as is common in numerology. Every number is treated as friendly with itself.

How to read the score

A starting point, not a verdict

A compatibility score describes how two sets of numbers tend to interact. It does not decide whether a relationship will work. People with a strong match still need effort, and a couple with a mixed score can get along very well when they understand where they differ.

Look at the pairs, not only the percentage. A difficult Moolank pair can show up in day-to-day habits and reactions, while a difficult Bhagyank pair is read more in long-term direction and life goals. Cross pairs carry less weight but show how one person’s nature meets the other’s path.

Dates are only part of the picture. In a full reading Namieta also looks at the names you each use, your Lo Shu grids and timing. For a marriage or engagement she can also suggest suitable dates based on both your numbers.

FAQ

Compatibility questions

Is a low compatibility score bad?

No. A low score means the planets of your numbers are not natural friends in the traditional table, so those areas may need more patience and understanding. It is a starting point for a conversation, not a prediction that the relationship will fail.

Do our names matter for compatibility?

Yes, in a full reading. This calculator uses only dates of birth because they cannot change. Namieta also looks at the name numbers you each use, which can support or soften what the dates show.

What if we have the same Moolank?

The same Moolank means the same ruling planet, and every planet is friendly with itself, so that pair scores excellent (4 of 4). You may understand each other’s way of thinking quickly, but you may also share the same blind spots, for example two 1s who both want to lead. Check the Bhagyank and cross pairs too.

Can numerology replace Kundli matching?

No, they are different systems. Kundli matching (Guna Milan) compares the two birth charts using date, time and place of birth, while numerology compatibility works from dates of birth and names. Namieta offers both, and they can be used together.

Which date of birth should we enter?

Use the actual date each person was born. If the date on documents is different, check both and mention it when you consult Namieta.

Does this work for business partners or friends?

Yes. The planet friendship applies to any two people, so you can use it for a business partner, a friend or a family member. For business partnerships a full reading usually also looks at the business name.
