Method
Your Personal Year (व्यक्तिगत वर्ष) comes from two things that stay the same, your birth day and month, and one that changes every January, the year itself. That is why the number moves forward by one each year. The calculator uses the calendar year, 1 January to 31 December.
Ananya is in Personal Year 5 in 2026, a year of change and freedom, and moves into Personal Year 6 in 2027, a year of family and responsibility. Her 1987 birth year plays no part in the working: anyone born on 14 August gets the same Personal Year in a given year.
Some calculators reduce the day, the month and the year separately before adding them. That always ends on the same single digit, so the theme does not change. Two things can still look different. A few sites keep 11 or 22 as the final answer, where this calculator shows the single digit and notes the master number. Others start the Personal Year on your birthday instead of 1 January, which changes the number for the months before your birthday.
Meanings
Each number from 1 to 9 gives the year a theme. Read it as the kind of work the year supports, not as a promise of good or bad luck. The planet is the one that rules the number in Indian numerology.

Planning 2026 and 2027
Personal Years run in a cycle of nine. Year 1 starts something new, the middle years build and test it, and year 9 closes the chapter before the next 1 begins. Because the number goes up by one every January, your 2027 number is always one more than your 2026 number, and a 9 is followed by a 1.
The nine years fall into four phases. Start with years 1 and 2, when a new plan is begun and the right people are brought in. Build through years 3 to 6, when the plan is shared, organised, adjusted and made part of daily life. Pause in year 7 to review and learn before the next push. Finish with years 8 and 9: year 8 brings in the results of the effort, and year 9 closes the chapter.
2026 and 2027 are highlighted. Enter your own date of birth in the calculator above to see your cycle.
Inside each year, every month has its own number: your Personal Year plus the month number, reduced. A personal month 1 is a good time to start something, a 5 brings movement and a 9 suits finishing. Use the months to fine-tune timing within the year, not to override the year’s theme. Here are Ananya’s personal months for both years, with October 2026 highlighted.
Year 1 is the traditional time to launch: it opens a fresh 9-year run. Year 8 suits growing a business that already exists, and year 3 suits work that depends on talking to people, such as sales, teaching or media. Use year 7 to research and plan, and year 9 to close old ventures rather than start new ones. Then choose the name and the date: try the business name calculator and the lucky date calculator.
Year 8, the year of results and money, and year 4, the year of foundations, suit careful long-term decisions such as property or a regular savings plan. In a 5 year watch for impulsive buys, and in a 9 year clear old loans and close what is pending. For a year-by-year view before a big decision, see the Right time of investment reading. Numbers help with timing; they do not replace advice from a financial adviser.
Year 5 is the classic year of change: a new role, a transfer or a move to another city. Year 1 suits starting fresh in a new field, and year 7 suits a course or new skills before the move. In a 9 year, finish well and hand over cleanly; the new start usually settles in the 1 year that follows.
Year 6 is read as the year of home, marriage and children, and year 2 favours partnership and commitment. Once you know the year, pick the date: the lucky date calculator checks a month against both partners’ numbers, and Namieta can suggest engagement and marriage dates from both your numbers.
Treat the Personal Year as one input among several. In a full reading it is read with your Moolank and Bhagyank, and important dates can also be checked against your Kundli. If two people are involved, such as a couple or business partners, check how your numbers sit together with the compatibility calculator.
It is the theme of one calendar year for you, worked out from your birth day, your birth month and the year you are checking. In Hindi it is often called vyaktigat varsh ank (व्यक्तिगत वर्ष अंक). Unlike your Moolank or Bhagyank it changes every year, moving through a cycle from 1 to 9.
Add the digits of your birth day, your birth month and the year, then reduce to one digit. For a birthday of 14 August, 2026 gives 1 + 4 + 0 + 8 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 23 → 5, so Personal Year 5. For 2027 the number is one higher: 6. The calculator above does this for any year from 1900 to 2100.
This calculator uses the calendar year, 1 January to 31 December, which is the most common method. Some numerologists run the Personal Year from one birthday to the next instead. If your birthday falls late in the year, read the months before it with both numbers in mind and see which one fits your experience.
The calculator always gives a single digit from 1 to 9. When the total passes through 11 or 22 on the way, it says so, because some numerologists read that as a master year with more intensity. The theme is still read as 2 or 4.
No. Year 9 is a year of completion: finishing pending work, clearing old commitments and letting go of what no longer fits. It can feel slower for new starts, which is why many people use it to prepare and launch the new plan in the 1 year that follows.
No. Your Moolank (मूलांक) and Bhagyank (भाग्यांक) are fixed from your date of birth and describe your nature and life path. The Personal Year changes every year and describes timing. In a reading the two are looked at together.
The calculator gives the number, its theme and your personal months. A personal year reading with Namieta looks at your full date of birth and name, how this year’s number sits with your own numbers, and which months suit the plans you have in mind.
