Mulank and Bhagyank
Find your Mulank (Moolank, driver) and Bhagyank (destiny) numbers, with the working shown step by step.
Names calculator
Type your name the way you write it and see its Chaldean name number, the method most Indian numerologists use, along with the Western Expression, Soul Urge and Personality numbers. Add your date of birth to check whether your name suits your Moolank and Bhagyank.

Enter the name you actually use: the one you sign with, write on documents and are called by. Your birth name and your current name both matter, so if they are different (after marriage, or a short form you use at work), check both.
Method
The Chaldean chart is the older of the two. It gives each letter a value from 1 to 8 based on its sound, not its place in the alphabet, and no letter is given 9: in this tradition 9 is treated as a sacred number and kept apart. Most Indian numerologists use the Chaldean chart for the name number and for name correction, so it is the main result in this calculator.
The Pythagorean chart simply numbers the alphabet in order, 1 to 9 and round again (A = 1, I = 9, J = 1). It is the base of Western numerology and gives the Expression, Soul Urge and Personality numbers. The two charts answer slightly different questions, which is why the calculator shows both.
Here is the full working for the name Priya Anand Desai, exactly as the calculator does it.
In the Pythagorean working, PRIYA adds up to 33, a master number, so it is kept as 33 and not reduced to 6. If you tick “Count Y as a vowel”, the Soul Urge becomes 7 and the Personality 8; the Chaldean number and Expression stay the same because they use every letter.
Now add a date of birth of 14-03-1992. Moolank is 1 + 4 = 5 and Bhagyank is 1 + 4 + 0 + 3 + 1 + 9 + 9 + 2 = 29 → 11 → 2. Name number 7 (Ketu) is rated good with Moolank 5 (Mercury) but difficult with Bhagyank 2 (Moon). In a case like this the calculator suggests name number 1 as one that would suit both, and this is where a numerologist may look at a careful spelling change.
Western name numbers
These three numbers come from the Pythagorean chart. They do not replace the Chaldean name number; they add detail about different sides of the same name.
All letters of your full name
Read as your natural abilities and the way you tend to work toward your goals. In Western numerology it is the main name number.
Vowels only (A, E, I, O, U)
Also called the heart’s desire. Read as what you want deep down and what keeps you motivated, even when you do not say it out loud.
Consonants only
Read as the side of you that others notice first: how you come across in a meeting, an interview or a new group.
If a word or a total reaches 11, 22 or 33, the Western method keeps it as a master number instead of reducing it. You will see this in the calculator steps.

Name and date of birth
Your date of birth cannot change, but the way you spell your name can. In Indian numerology a name number that is friendly with your Moolank and Bhagyank is read as supportive, and one whose planet is unfriendly with them is read as a source of friction. The calculator rates both pairs from excellent to difficult, and if a pair is challenging or difficult it shows which name numbers would sit better with your date of birth.
A good correction is not about adding any letter that gives a lucky total. The new spelling still has to be easy to write and pronounce, work on your documents and signature, and fit your full chart, not only one number. Please consult Namieta before changing the spelling of your name on official documents.
Use the name you actually live with day to day for the main reading. Your birth name is still read as your foundation, so if you changed your surname after marriage, or use a short form or initials at work, check each version and compare.

FAQ
By default this calculator treats Y as a consonant. Some numerologists count Y as a vowel when it is sounded like one, so tick “Count Y as a vowel” to see both versions. Only the Soul Urge and Personality numbers change; the Chaldean name number and the Expression number use every letter, so they stay the same.
Enter the full name you actually use. Many people in India use their father’s or husband’s name as a middle name; if it is on your documents and in your signature, include it. If you usually go by first name and surname only, check that version as well.
Each initial counts as one letter and the dots are ignored. So “R K Sharma” gives a different number from “Rajesh Kumar Sharma” (Chaldean 2 and 3 in this case). Check the form you use most, for example the one you sign with.
Not on the strength of a calculator alone. A difficult match is one input; Namieta also looks at your Moolank, Bhagyank, Lo Shu grid and how you use your name before suggesting any spelling change. Ask her before changing your name on official documents.
Use the English spelling you actually write, for example on your PAN card, passport or business card. Different spellings give different numbers: “Lakshmi” is Chaldean 1 and “Laxmi” is 5. The calculator reads only English letters A to Z, so accents are removed and Devanagari letters are ignored.
The two charts give letters different values (in Chaldean I = 1, in Pythagorean I = 9), and the Pythagorean method reduces each word separately. So the two results are often different. Indian name correction normally follows the Chaldean name number.
Yes, Naamank (नामांक) is the Hindi term for the name number. In Indian practice it is usually the Chaldean name number, read alongside your Moolank (मूलांक) and Bhagyank (भाग्यांक).
