Mulank, also spelt Moolank (मूलांक), is the number of the day you were born, and Bhagyank (भाग्यांक) is the number of your full birth date. Enter your date of birth to find both, see the working behind them and how well the two sit together.

Step by step
Both numbers come from your date of birth written the Indian way, as DD-MM-YYYY. You only add digits, and you keep adding until a single digit from 1 to 9 is left. Nothing else from your birth chart is needed.
So Ananya has Moolank 2 and Bhagyank 9. Moolank 2, ruled by the Moon, describes a sensitive and cooperative way of dealing with people day to day. Bhagyank 9, ruled by Mars, points to energy, courage and a wish to finish what she starts in the wider course of her life. Because the two planets get along, the pair is rated good together. Try your own date in the calculator above to see the same steps for you.
Numbers 1 to 9
The same meanings apply to both numbers. Your Moolank is usually read as your basic nature, how you think and act from day to day. Your Bhagyank is read as the direction your life tends to take and the experiences it brings. The lucky days and colours below follow traditional Indian practice.

Planet friendship
In Indian numerology every number from 1 to 9 is ruled by a planet: 1 Sun, 2 Moon, 3 Jupiter, 4 Rahu, 5 Mercury, 6 Venus, 7 Ketu, 8 Saturn and 9 Mars. Vedic astrology has a traditional table of natural (naisargika) friendship that says how each planet regards the others: as a friend, as neutral or as an enemy.
The friendship is not always mutual. Mars counts the Moon as a friend, for example, while the Moon is only neutral towards Mars. So the calculator looks at your pair in both directions and adds them up. A friend counts 2, neutral counts 1 and an enemy counts 0, which gives a score from 0 to 4.
Rahu (4) and Ketu (7) are shadow planets and are not part of the classical friendship table. The calculator follows the common convention of reading them much like Saturn. When your Moolank and Bhagyank are the same number, such as 5 and 5, the pair is rated excellent.
A difficult rating is not a prediction of bad luck. It shows that the way you act from day to day and the direction your life takes pull in different ways, so big choices need a little more thought. In a full reading the pair is looked at together with your name number, mobile number and Lo Shu grid.
Moolank (मूलांक) comes only from the day of the month you were born and is read as your basic nature, how you think and act from day to day. Bhagyank (भाग्यांक) comes from your full date of birth and is read as your destiny, the direction your life tends to take. Someone born on 29-11-1985 has Moolank 2 and Bhagyank 9.
Both are correct. Mulank and Moolank are two English spellings of the same Hindi word, मूलांक (mool + ank, the root number). Whichever spelling you use, it is the same number: the day of the month you were born, reduced to one digit. So someone born on the 29th has Mulank 2, which you may also see written as Moolank 2.
They come from the same date and always share the same root number, but they are not always written the same way. Bhagyank adds every digit and reduces to a number from 1 to 9. The Western Life Path reduces the month, day and year separately and keeps the master numbers 11, 22 and 33, so a Life Path of 22 appears as Bhagyank 4. The Life Path number calculator shows both side by side.
It means the ruling planets of your two numbers do not get along in the traditional friendship table, for example 1 (Sun) with 8 (Saturn). It is not a sign of bad luck. It points to a pull between how you act and where life takes you, and a numerologist will look at your name number, mobile number and Lo Shu grid to see what can bring balance.
Yes. For Moolank, a two-digit day is added until one digit is left: 29 becomes 2 + 9 = 11, and 11 becomes 1 + 1 = 2. So people born on the 2nd, 11th, 20th and 29th all have Moolank 2. For Bhagyank, the 2 and the 9 are simply added along with all the other digits of the date.
No. Moolank and Bhagyank both come from your date of birth, so they stay the same for life. What can change are the numbers around you, such as the spelling of your name or your mobile number, which is why numerologists check those against your Moolank and Bhagyank.
A zero adds nothing to the total, so it does not change your Bhagyank. For 15-07-1990 the digits give 1 + 5 + 0 + 7 + 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 32, and 3 + 2 = 5, the same answer you get if you leave the zeros out.
